Artificial Breath
My process during this project was a lot more research based than previous projects. I think this is because I knew that my work would be subject to a lot of scrutiny and questioning so I wanted to have my opinions as developed as possible to respond to this questioning and I ended up really enjoying the research so I just kept going with it. I also shot quite a variety of outputs before deciding what to present which gave me the opportunity to look into the pros and cons of each and test out peoples reactions to see which could communicate the most effectively. I was also constantly going back to chat gpt to ask questions and inform the process as it was happening. I think the most important part of my process was the conversations that my work has started from tutorials to conversations when they were exhibited, I have been able to really find the weak spots in my knowledge and seek to improve.
Besides taking the photos for this project, I think the post production is what makes them so enticing and unique. I really clasped onto Gary Fabian millers passion of colour and applied it to my work to add new dimensions of emotion and visual perception. I also tried to relinquish control by searching for inspiration in public spaces rather than the sterile environment I sometimes find myself creating in the studio. Talking to chat GPT was definitely not my usual process as working with a collaborator on a project is unheard of in my work as I am so focused on self portraits and work that is self centred. This project allowed me to look at bigger contemporary issues that affect everyone.
*To clarify, these are photographs taken and edited by myself. AI was used as a subject matter and Chat GPT as a collaborator/search engine*
